Flash Movie Player Frequently Asked Questions

You say that Flash Movie Player is free. What is the catch? Does it contain spyware or adware?

There are no catches here. Flash Movie Player is completely free and contains no spyware, ads or user tracking. For example, Softpedia assigned "100% clean" award to our player.

We believe that our player gives you the convenient way to watch flash animations, and it will always be free.

When I try to run the program, it tells me that it requires "Adobe Flash Player plug-in", which I already have.

Please consult the Flash Player Plug-In Installation Manual for the flash library installation instructions.

When I start the program, I get an "ActiveX registration error". What does it mean?

This means that you have the clean system with no Flash Player library registration, which is still needed for our program to operate. In this case Flash Movie Player tries to register it upon starting.

There are a few things you can try:

  • If you have UAC enabled and Windows asks you for a permission to run the Microsoft Register Server program, allow it.
  • Try to run Flash Movie Player program fmp.exe as Administrator for one time.

I am wondering if there is some command-line switch to have the program, by default, open the Flash file in full screen mode / for unattended install / etc.?

A: Please visit our Flash Movie Player command line switches page.

Where can I find flash (swf) files?

There are many sites with Flash animations, some of them listed on our "Assorted Flash links" page. You can also try find the swf files in your browser cache, using appropriate command of the Flash Movie Player.

Q: The background color setting seems to not work properly - the selected color isn't always what displays.

Visual representation depends on the flash animation itself. Some of them have the predefined background, and some of them have the transparent one. Anyway, all the visualisation is performed by Adobe Flash Plugin, so Flash Movie Player can't do here much.
